Title: DIY Rios
Post by: swamp_bird89 on January 30, 2012, 12:07:47 AM
I would like to shoot a Rio this year. I've been out west before killing merriams Colorado.....have no clue what states to start looking at for a Rio. Any help is appreciated. I'm young and willing to put the boots down to kill birds. Just have no clue where to start.

I've killed rios in Tx, KS, and Nebraska.  Tx has very little public land but you can find some day lease landowners or pay an outfitter.  KS has some public land but its getting tough.  Don't know much about Nebraska

I have had good luck in Kansas, decent amount of State land and the WIHA program is good as well.  Oklahoma has good public land, can have a lot of pressure early.

I wouldn't mind paying a trespass fee....might have to wait till next spring. It's looking like I've got quite a few Osceola hunts this year.
