Title: Who needs Waddell?
Post by: unclerick on February 19, 2011, 09:31:27 PM
When you've got a liveing legond to hang out with. Me and Wes went to the convention today and there were 50 people waiting to see Waddell but we went and seen Mr. Tom Kelly himself, what a great honor to met and talk to this man, he signed our books and I got a call signed by him as well, Mr. Kelly was gracious enough to take a picture with us, course he told us that now "You boys want ever be able to run for public office now" so I let him know that we were'nt far from being outlaws ourselves. Enjoy the pics.

I was, Wes called me and said he was there, I got so excited that I ran over, asked him to sign my call, shook his hand and took off, met up with Wes and told him about it and Wes asked me if I baught one of his books, no, I said. So we went back and I apologized for it and then we got to talk some more.

He was giveing dvds away with his book, but he also gave me a cd of him reading the Short Spurs stories in turkey hunting magizine, can't wait to listen to it.

I like Waddell, would even like to hunt with him, but Mr. Kelly was/is a specail treat for me and Wes, we've met super famous people, but no one as cool as Mr. Tom Kelly.

I must be in the right place, I just signed on a few weeks ago but was a little hesitant. If y'all are pickin' Col. Kelly over Wadell I must be home. Congrats Rick, I hope I can meet him too some day.

That is awesome gettin' to meet Mr Kelly. Some of the new age guys are alright but old school guys rock. I was able to spend a little time one on one with Fred Bear back in 1981 and I will never forget it. Way more interesting than the "smilin' salesman" of today. :icon_thumright:

I can tell you that all of his books are GREAT. While you are reading them, it is like being there with him. He is a GREAT MAN who cares about our sport.

Any body else notice recently that Waddell was endorsing Budweiser? Saw a picture of him holding a Bud. Reckon how that sits with Bill Jordan?
