Title: Tough Decision
Post by: StruttinGobbler3 on January 25, 2012, 03:40:51 AM
This is a hard decision to make...I've decided to pick up an anodized aluminum pot call. I've narrowed it down to either a lightsout aluminum or a hooks assassin aluminum. I have one of Wendells canarywood slate pots that is pure turkey, and I'm surey his aluminum is no different. However, i also use several hooks diaphragms that are flat out awesome. I've also heard excellent reviews on the assassin line of calls. Anyone here have any experience with these calls?

I've got both. You can't go wrong with either one.

Nothing against Hooks (although I wish they would make the tape on their diaphrams larger), but Wendell all the way!!

I have a Light Out Call from Wendell that has an aluminum surface and Bubinga pot.    The striker is Dymondwood and it's easily my favorite call.

Wendell makes good stuff!    I don't have any experience with Hooks Calls, but I'm sure they make nice stuff as well.

GMAN,
For future reference, I had the same problem with the  Hooks calls so I called Scott and he sent me some full size tape for the calls I bought, at no charge.  I slipped them on the calls and cut to fit.  EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You can't beat a company that will stand behind their products.

Lightsout makes a great bead blasted aluminum call in a yellowheart pot with a diamondwood striker,  I don't know if the Hooks assassin aluminum is bead blasted or not.  Scoot

I'm pretty partial to lights out. Wendel is a great guy and ive never heard another aluminum that will rival his.  I've also seen their effectiveness in the field and it's hard to dispute.

Scott hook is a great dude, though.

Well it was a tough choice but in the end i went with Wendell for the second year in a row. Placed an order for one of his limited edition mesquite anodized aluminum calls.  He ran one over the phone and it was pure full of turkey. Can't wait to get this one in my hands  :z-guntootsmiley:
