Title: Carlsons and SBEII Chokes
Post by: agturkey on January 22, 2012, 04:55:38 PM
Anyone have any experience with the SBEII and Carlsons chokes?

I shoot SBEII full choke and Winchester Xtended Range 5 3.5 and been happy just thought I might try and xfull or one of the turkey chokes they have.

I have the Carlson's .660 for mine but to be honest the best choke I have found that even comes close to my 835 is the PG .670.  That choke gives me no joke, a 20%+ improvement over even the Carlson's with almost every load I try through it.  Sad too, because I have a ton of Carlson's chokes for my other guns and they rock! :you_rock:

I have had the best results with final strut choke's from rob roberts. He worked with me exchanging out 4 different chokes before i got the right combo,"choke load" that worked in my gun. I also had very good luck with Indian Creek  choke's. I havent tried the pure gold chokes but the get good results from what i see on here.

I use a rob roberts final strut .655. Great with magnum blends. This year i am going to check the jelly Head .660 to see what is the difference.

I push a 2oz. load of #5 Hevi Shot through a Trulock tube. I also tryed the Jellyhead but the Trulock has given me a more even pattern. The Jellyhead is a bit tighter at 20 but the Trulock holds better and more consistant at longer ranges.

I have shot Carlsons in my SBE. Kicks .655 runs better but not in my M2. Carlsons will not do anything well in my M2. My SBE has a 26" barrell and my M2 has a 21". Lot of our members say that could be one reason.
