I obviously can't read today. :character0029:
Wish him the best in the new pursuit.
Aside from my disdain for the Squealing Hen, I like Eddie Salter. He is an icon in the turkey hunting community.
Back in 2000-2003 I ran a route in Evergreen, AL where he's from. This was before I got into turkey hunting so I really didn't know who he was at the time.
I did however, deal with some of his kin folk on a weekly basis. Got to know them fairly well. I remember them talking about him and at one time they asked if I turkey hunt, I said no and they told me they'd try to introduce me to him. It didn't mean much at the time, but looking back it would have been cool to meet him and possibly hunt with him.
I met him at the Iowa Deer and Turkey Classic a few years ago. I went to one of hs seminars, and even bought a call from him. He is a very nice, easy to talk to, kind of guy. I like Eddie Salter, and will look forward to seeing him at his new venture, sans the Squeeling Hen thingy..
All the big name guys in the industry, There is only two guys that if you turned them loose, there wouldn't be a animal alive because there
that good. On their worse day nobody and I mean nobody could carry their shoes. These two guys are Eddie Salter and Harold Knight. I've hunted with both of them numberous times and I mean to tell yea, their both salt of the earth guys. Best of Luck Eddie and you need anything here in NY just let me know.
He had me at the first celebratory owl hoot!! Met him once in a Kroger parking lot. Called my buddy who was videoing hunts trying to get into the industry. Eddie spent two hours talking to us looking at our footage and offering tips, advice, great stories, and listening intently to ours. A nicer guy I have never met. Would hunt with him any day. Hope he leaves squealer with Strut.
DND is just down the road from me sounds like eddie will be a good addition to the team. I know one guy from dnd and hes a super nice guy. :icon_thumright:
Really glad to hear this! I hope Eddie has alot of success with this move. I seen his commercial on tv last night with the hen squealer. I was like eddie you know that thing won't work. Hearing this news has lifted my spirits about eddie though. Im hoping he can get back to being the great turkey hunter he is and won't have to worry about marketing those gimmick hen squealers anymore. I met eddie once at the turkeyrama in atlanta, very nice guy.
Eddie came to our neck of the woods last year and conducted a outdoor seminar and was truly a gentleman; he had time for everyone there and nobody, including the children, was left out; really gave a great show; I have pictures and a signed mossy oak hat from him;
I also might add that he isn't sponsored by any beer company or anything that would bring a bad image to our younger generation; that alone speaks volume especially in this day and time; hope nothing but the best for him in his new adventure..........................
Who's gonna give the old owl hoot on the HS vidieos now Matt Morret or Alex Rutlege? ;D
Good guy who has made some poor business moves
I guess Matt will have seniority over there now, with Rutledge leaving last year and now Salter is gone. Seems like all the oldheads are bailing on them.
Hunted with Eddie years ago with Ken Tucker on the McMillian family land near Brewton, AL. (Before Eddie sold out to the god almighty dollar)... He is good, but his former cameraman Ned is better. 20 years ago and he had already killed 500+ Longbeards...
Good Luck Eddie, I hope you build your new career on the quality of the calls and not some worthless gimmick. One that is designed to separate people who don't know any better from their hard earned money..
Where did Alex Rutledge go?
I met Alex Rutledge once at a calling contest in State College Pa. He has a really good sense of humor. I told him he looked taller in all his videos ( he is short). He just busted out laughing. Seemed like a real nice fella and a good story teller. I am curious where he went also. Anybody know?
Bloodline calls I believe. I have a friend that he hunts with regularly and he told him about a year and a half ago that he was working with Bloodline calls to produce a line by him. They had a tv show last summer on the Pursuit channel called Bloodlines.
