Please use this thread to provide current team news and updates on team and contest related activities. I am thinking we each have the ability to modify or update our own posts and ultimately to remove any of our posts that become dated or have outlived their news worthyness. I will leave it to your discretion and judgement to decide on how to best utilize these options, but if done right this thread should enable semi-realtime team member chat and interaction. I am thinking to start with we should all try to observe and apply a ten-day news worthyness window on our posts, replys and general chat.
Of course all team members are welcome to start a new topic thread if you feel your topic or question/answers warrants more long term status.
Gobblestopper - Lance
WE NOW HAVE A SIXTEEN MAN TEAM
Welcome to our newest team members: spacman, ncturkey and Wildcat14.
A majority of members have replied or responded to our team captain thread and it looks like l will be serving as our team captain and Odessa will be serving as our co-captain. If I am not mistaken, I believe everyone on the team with the exception of perkis are all OG contest newbies so this is somewhat uncharted waters. If any of you guys have ideas or input on how to better our team, contest performance, or to make this as much fun as possible don't keep it a secret. Post it up or PM me if you prefer.
I noticed that we have a Hoosier state member majority on our team. I would encourage firelt77 (Eric), antiwheeze (John) and Crappiepro (Brad) to consider PMing one another, possibly exchanging numbers and picking each others brains about hunting areas, IN tactics, etc. I'm thinking John and Eric might actually be our closest neighbor members. Don't count Brad out though he hunts 3 different counties about an hour west of you two guys and is a twelve year vet. We'll be watching to see what might come out of this Indiana connection.
With the addition of ncturkey, we also have another three man turkey army from the Carolinas. Co-captain Odessa (Bruce) Greenville,NC; ncturkey (Mike) Gastonia,NC and ShotgunDave (Dave) down in Lugoff,SC. The Carolina crew is also encouraged to PM each other or exchange numbers and pick each others brains on places to hunt and local tactics.
I'm thinking the Carolina boys might just have the edge over the Hoosiers in season length, but then again those big old corn fed Indiana gobblers might make up the difference through shear weight and size. What do the rest of you guys think? Carolina boys or the Hoosiers? Total three-man score who's gonna take home the "Braggin Rights" for the Head Hunters team?
Carolina Boys PM me if ya'll want to exchange numbers. Or we can just PM each other.
Great Idea! Hey John and Eric, You guys let me know about your hunting dates maybe we can get together. I may be able to take one of ya's on my Parke county property. I also put in on the Deer Creek FWA draw hunts for the second date there. I know the property like the back of my hand. If you guys get drawn for the opening week-end date take me and Ill take you if I get in on the second date. Lets show everyone what Indiana's about!LOL. Go Head Hunters!!

Now thats what I'm talkin about right there! Anything that can possibly help make one of your teammates be more successful will certainly make the HeadHunters more successful. Go Hoosiers!
Contest within a contest...I like it!
Well It would be great to meet some of the guys you B.S. with here on the forum. Its been fun so far! Im really lookin forward to the season and maybe gettin together with a few team mates! I hope us Hoosier's do well for the team!
I mostly hunt 100 miles away. Not many turkeys in Indy (except Eagle Creek Park).
Ive been down town in Indy and there plenty of turkey's running around.LOL bad thing is those turkey's probably carry guns!
Well here is an update from me in Northern PA. I was looking forward to getting out scouting and maybe some shed hunting this or next weekend but it continues to snow. We got about 10 inches on Monday and last night into today we are getting another 6 or so. Birds are still in big flocks of more than 50 in the big agriculture fields. Its fun to see and watch them but not good for getting them pinpointed. Hopefully the snow will melt in the next week or two.
I spent today rabbit hunting (and scouting for turkeys while I hunted). One of my favorite fields has a big old oak roosting tree in the back corner, near the river. I spent some time looking for sign, found several turkey feathers and some dust bowls in the field. I didn't see any birds (with 19 beagles and 9 hunters there was plenty of noise prior to getting to the field), but feel certain the birds are still using their historic stomping grounds.
Great scouting report. I am going yote/turkey scouting this week.
