Title: noodling for turkeys!!!!
Post by: Vaturkeyhntr on January 11, 2012, 12:28:38 PM
April 30, 2011 me and a friend were hunting late in the morning on Quantico Marine Corps Base, as we exited a field i walked past a brush pile and out came this turkey....I noticed that it was dragging its wing and couldnt fly.  the bird let me walk right up to it and pick it up without pecking at me once, the bird actually started doing soft clucks and purs like it was comfortable when i was holding her.  Turned out t be a bearded hen....after snapping a few pics and contacting the biologist on base we put her back into the woods and hoped for the best.

Oh and a couple days later we found her again in the middle of the field, but either a fox or coyote had found her first!!

Looks like she has avian pox. Her death was imminent.

cool story... not cool outcome for her.  That is one big footed hen there.
