Well in less than 48 hours I'll be judging calls at Midwest! Can't wait looking forward to seeing a lot of calls from you guys on here!
And I've always wanted to but have dropped the ball, I will do my best to list the placing on here Friday morning. I'm going to bring my laptop with so it'll be pretty easy to do if I make the time! ;D
Good luck to all the guys that have entered last I heard which was a hour ago that the hunting calls are up from last year so there should be some pretty good compitition!
Neal
That sounds exciting Neal! Which category will you be judging?

I will be judging most of the "hunting" calls Which I was just told they are up from last year. Looking forward to it!
Good luck, I wish I had entered something, I missed this round and decided on the Nationals, but you should have your hands full as I know for a fact that there are gonna be some super calls there this year, pappy

Skipped the Midwest but you entered the MN contest?? WOW.
As I understand, the judges run each of the calls of a given category in the hunting call competition. Each judge selects their own top 5 calls (I think it is 5 calls?). The calls not selected in this process are no longer in the running for judging. The judges then go back through and run all of the calls chosen by the judges to narrow down the overall top 5. This is done for each category, so the top 5 slate calls are selected, the top 5 glass calls, the top 5 in open pot call category... I use the example of pot calls, as I don't know the breakdown on box call divisions, trumpet calls, etc.
You are pretty close to correct. What is different in this competition, EVERY CALL IS JUDGED AND SCORED...100% OF THEM. At the National the calls scored are the ones that make the so called "cut" which is each judge picks his 5 "favorite". When I was the chairman at both, we did judge 100% and that was changed. They decided it was to much work and took to long. My opinion was and still is, EVERY CALL/100% DESERVE TO BE PLAYED SCORED AND JUDGED, NOT JUST THE FAVORITES OF EACH JUDGE. Thank the Lord that new judges appear from time to time and unknown call-makers get a chance, and often win. Just review last year where Mr. Mero and Mr. MaKam :z-winnersmiley: :z-winnersmiley: :z-winnersmiley: :z-winnersmiley:ey won.
