Title: may have found a 20 gauge
Post by: dirt road ninja on December 22, 2011, 03:59:19 PM
I just left a message for a fellow with a 11-87 youth 20 gauge for sale near my home. It is all camo with a 21 inch tube. He still has the box and claims his kids out grew it before they could use it. Looking on Gunbroker the price seems very fair. All it would need is a choke, a set of sights, and a few boxes of Hevi 13 # 7's. What do ya'll think a fair price would be?

I'd say $300 would be a good price! Guns around here (Central Indiana) sale pretty cheap though. Good Luck, it sounds like a fine gun for a starter.

Basically,

not trying to be a rear end, but what ever price makes BOTH of you happy.

I've payed more for some stuff, than what I could have gotten it for later, but had the opportunity to have it then. I've paid more for stuff that I handled and liked the looks of, or just because it felt better than the same exact item, across town.

God Bless,
David B.

Make an offer and if you both feel good about it the it is all good. If not it was not meant to be. As to $ valuse I do not have a clue without looking it up on line.

Those are great guns and pretty hard to find used in this part of the world. Doris has one that she uses for turkeys. It's a soft shooter.

She uses the Truglo "Pro Series" of open sights and they work very well on that gun. It has a pretty thin receiver but it can be drilled and tapped as long as you plan to leave the base in place.

I do recommend that you consider putting a Cheek Eez pad on the comb. That short barrel can create a little whip that finds its way to the comb. A little padding there helps a good bit.

Prices can vary greatly depending upon where you are and the season of the year.

That gun should give years of excellent service.

Thanks,
Clark

I like that gun you are talking about. I would love to have that to pair with my 870 20ga. I have seen that gun, brand new, run around 500 here locally.
Autoloaders are a little higher than the pumps from what I have seen.
If it is used, 300 ought to be reasonable. Hope you can get it cause the 1187's rock. My cousin has one in 12 and has put that thing through it and it keeps trucking.

Hope all works for you and you can get it

I got this afternoon. I would post the picture but I can't figure out how to do it from the phone. It was in new condition and the box is in very good shape as well.  The gun should be a joy to carry and fit my son. Think I'm going to use it a few days this spring myself.
