Title: 54 Years old and my FIRST Buck taken!

Well, this may not set any records, but I will say that I am still proud that at age 54 I just started hunting and took my first deer last week. hunting private land of a co-worker, in McCormick, SC, I bagged this nice 9 point buck. I'm hooked for life!

I'm also counting down to turkey season. I hunted this past spring but sadly, killed no birds. Maybe this spring my luck will change!

Thanks. I just bought 3 Box calls on e-bay, all of which are hand crafted by REPUTABLE sellers. I hope I did well. Looking forward to getting out in March!

It is always great to hear another hunter added to the rolls.
Not many start after 24 years of age. Seems work and family prevent it.
My first solo turkey had a thin scrawny beard for his age but it means the most to me.

Now HOPEFULLY, I'll take a GOBBLER this season. Last season was good, I called and heard and saw turkey, but never got one close enough. 33 days and counting!

Nice buck.  It's never too late to start.  I had the privelege of taking my dad (70 yrs at the time) on his first successful deer hunt in 50 years about 3 years ago. I'm hoping to get him on his first turkey ever this spring.
