While this deer season has gone on and been a little disappointing , I shot one doe early and have missed a nice buck and a doe to date I have had one nice suprise, on two occasions while hunting with my youngest son I have seen turkeys, to some this might not seem like a big deal but in this area I hunt I only saw my first turkey track 2 years ago and I have been hunting there for 20 years. We watched upwards to 7 or 8 birds go to roost not more than 100 yards away. My boy watched those birds fly up and roost and just stared at them for 10-15 minutes. The other occasion we bumped them off roost one night leaving our area. Additionally my dad had one in the cross hairs of his crossbow in range the same night. I guess I will have to buy a fall turkey license for that area next year.
Your story is repeated yearly in MI. I hoped for the day when I could turkey hunt on my property when I bought it about 15 years ago. I've now shot several here and am able to hear multiple birds gobble from the deck each spring morning. Hopefully you will experience the same. Good luck!
