I killed my fall turkey today. Joey went with me to be the videographer. We heard 2 gobbles in the tree and then 1 after the turkeys hit the ground. By the time we got to them they were already gone and we couldn't get any responses. We decided to walk an old dirt road and Joey spotted a hen feeding ahead of us 300 yards. We made our way around to try and get even with them. As I peaked up over a small rise there was a gobbler in strut looking right at me at 40 yards. I dropped back down and motioned for Joey to come closer. When I turned to look back a turkey had been setting in the tree and flew down to the ground. It must have seen me move. The turkey wasn't on it's roost, they were 300 yards or more from their roost. I decided not to call because I thought I had been busted. So I eased up and got my feet underneath me. When I looked back to where the gobbler had been there was nothing. Then something caught my eye to the left and there were 2 turkey heads looking at me. I stood up because I knew the game was over and got the gun on a gobbler. There were 5 longbeards in the group. I could not get a clean shot without killing multiple turkeys. So I picked the last bird which was an adult hen and shot her. We had a great day afield. Then I took the landowner a big Ham for Christmas for giving me permission to turkey hunt,
