Title: Ga Thanksgiving 8pt
Post by: fountain2 on November 24, 2011, 11:40:30 AM
Killed this deer this morning.  Happy thanksgiving to me!! ...and to y'all too!    Shot with 300 encore.   Again a small entry and exit with no blood where I shot him.   I watched him go down in the grown up clear cut though.   Shooting 180gr accubond ct winchester.   May switch to the hornady 150sat gr hornady sst ...I want a large exit hole.

Congrats!
If you want a blood trail, try some Winchester Supreme Ballistic Tip Silvertips.  If they come in your caliber, and I bet they do, they leave a blood trail Stevie Wonder can follow. :TooFunny:

I would go 180 NBT.

150 SSTs are like varmint bullets and more times than not do not exit, which gives no blood trail at all.

NBTs have a thicker jacket, yet still give explosive performance. The heavier weight NBTs penetrate quite well.
