Title: Wild or Butterball?
Post by: mnturkey on November 23, 2011, 12:29:54 PM
The big day is tommrow and I was wondering who is having a Wild Turkey and Who is having a butterball?

I pluck and double wrap my Spring Turkey and will cook it tommrow for the whole family.

Most of the grandkids have never had a domestic turkey for Thanksgiving.

Butterball.  Spring birds don't make it to Memorial Day, and Fall birds don't make it to Thanksgiving.  "Get in my belly!"   :D

Storebought bird... but it sure as hell won't be a Butterball.    I don't care to support Halal stuff so I have a nice 18 pound bird from the Jeanie O.

I save the Wild birds for me, and my friends who appreciate it.    Nothing beats deep fried Turkey nuggets and home made steak fries.

I have 2 gallon bags full of wild turkey breast that will find their way to a smoker near me tonight.  ;D

As for going to the in-laws house, I will be having ham (pork) in honor of the butterball muslim turkeys.   :P

I think the last time we had a butterball was in 1979.  Since then my kids don't want anything but wild turkey.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm looking forward to a fresh, never frozen, Rio Grande wild turkey this year. Flydown is getting it ready for the deep fryer as we speak.  :happy0064: :happy0064:

Ham here for two reasons 1 the above 2 the wife does not really care for turkey. I do have two fall turkeys that will get smoked if this rain ever quits.
So happy Thanks Giving to all.

No turkey for me this year, I got me a nice 3.5lb frier that I'm going to shove stovetop cornbread stuffing in, smother it in garlic, salt and pepper with some pork bacon layed across the top.  And when it's done I'm going to thank my Lord and Savoir for the wonderful blessing.

Wild and Butterball. It is mandatory that I have turkey nuggets at every Slaton family function.

Not sure what my mom is cooking for a bird. All I know is it's gonna be great! Mouth is already watering!
Maybe next year, it will be a bird I put down! :icon_thumright:
