This morning I popped this 8 pointer with my 54 calibre South Carolina style flintlock at about 30 steps. Load was 80 grains FFFG Goex, a homemade .530" ball wrapped in medium weight Irish linen and lubed with pure bear grease. A wee bit of FFFG in the pan did the trick. He had a 21" spread and only weighed 153 pounds hog dressed.
