Title: Fall bird
Post by: bbcustomboxcalls on November 14, 2011, 05:32:38 PM
I love hunting in the Fall!  The leaves are changing and its just a great time to be in the woods.
Best of all though is turkey hunting.  This time of year you can get out there and be all alone because most guys are hunting deer or ducks or fishing.
I hit one of my favorite places the other day to see if I could stir up a turkey.
I spent the morning walking and calling without any luck.  About noon I decided to setup against a big oak tree down by 'TheCreek' and call for awhile.
After a series of kee-kees and kee-kee runs on my Tube call, I heard a gobble.  So I made another series of calls, and got another gobble.
Within about two to three minutes Four longbeards came marching in.  The one shown below stayed for Thanksgiving dinner.

Thats a great looking turkey Bill. I think that turkeys are prettier in the fall because they have their brand new feathers from the summer molt. The turkey is gorgeous. Nice tube call. Congrats,

I agree, I cut my teeth fall hunting.  First turkey I killed was a fall bird.  Sounds like a great hunt and a fine looking fall gobbler.
