Harvested this 8 -point Sunday evening with about 2-3 minutes of shooting light left. Just hung the stand at noon that day! I was actually hunting with my 12 year old grandson who had a doe tag (he shot his buck during youth rifle season). He was in another tree stand about 25 yards from me and saw the whole plan come together. I was fortunate to make a good double lung shot at 20 yards and he only went about 40 yeards for an easy recovery. How many times have you hunted and wanted a doe to come in and none did??? I'm not complaining too much.
Honcho

Nice buck! I am always amazed at the body size in the midwest. The neck on that thing is HUGE!!

He was a very large bodied deer. I saw him coming across a wheat field for about 400 yards on his way to the trail I was sitting on...at first I thought he was a hereford steer. It took me and another guy my size 5 minutes to get him lifted up on the back rack of an atv to get him hauled out. We both estimate 275-300 lbs. He had more body than rack! Even though he is not a huge trophy deer to some people I am having a shoulder mount done with the swelled neck from rut. I really like the look of these mature deer.
Great Buck!! Thats cool havin the grandson along too!
Congrats!
congrats!
