Here is a sweetheart of a Parquet call for a patient fellow. Kinda surprised myself getting it done with bow season upon us and all, but this was fun and I know the hunter will really tease some longbeards with this one. Walnut over Poplar which is an 80%-20% sapwood/heartwood combo. The lid has both yellow sapwood and green heartwood inlays and the box has purpleheart and poplar spacers, purpleheart inlay and one of my favorite ends blocks--Sumac. This Sumac is special and came from a fine call-maker fellow deep in the hills of West Virginia--he knows who he is--thanks my 'coal' friend!
Both rails cry out with classic hen yelps and kee-kee nicely with a little tilt of the lid and the right pressure. The left rail carries a higher pitch than the right and both rails are loud, crisp and finish with excellent raspy yawks. This call really plays smooth and as a result she will purr and tree talk with ease all the way along both rails. The hunter said give me a turkey theme...well I hope he likes the big ole strutter and boss hen I burned and my traditional tail feather.
