True story and most people will never know it.
Here's an interesting side bar.
After the Japanese decimated our fleet in Pearl Harbor Dec 7, 1941,
They could have sent their troop ships and carriers directly to California
To finish what they started.
The prediction from our Chief of Staff was we would not be able to stop a
Massive invasion until they reached the Mississippi River .
Remember, we had a 2 million man army and war ships......
All fighting the Germans.
So, why did they not invade?
After the war, the remaining Japanese generals and admirals were asked that question.
Their answer......
They know that almost every home had guns and the Americans knew how to use them..
The world's largest army.... America 's hunters!
I had never thought about this....
A blogger added up the deer license sales in just a handful of states and
Arrived at a striking conclusion:
There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin ..
Allow me to restate that number.
Over the last several months, Wisconsin 's hunters became the eighth
Largest army in the world.
More men under arms than in Iran ..
More than in France and Germany combined.
These men deployed to the woods of a single American state to hunt
With firearms, and no one was killed.
That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of
Pennsylvania and Michigan 's 700,000 hunters All of whom have now returned home.
Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia and it literally
Establishes the fact that the hunters of those four states alone
Would comprise the largest army in the world.
The point?
America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that kind of home-grown firepower.
Hunting -- it's not just a way to fill the freezer. It's a matter of national security.
That's why all enemies, foreign and domestic, want to see us disarmed.
Food for thought when next we consider gun control.
The Chinese aren't going to invade. They'll just foreclose.
The private gun ownership of so many American citizens helps in more ways than most people realize.

You got that right.

You do know that with nuclear weapons we don't need to be invaded right? :)
This is what happened to Japan for getting the same idea. We couldnt have held them off while fighting Germany without major losses and probably rebuilding our nation.
That post is a non-sequitur. We were not fighting the Germans at the time that they bombed Pearl Harbor. Europe was and we were helping them, but we were not at war with Germany at that point.
We weren't fighting the Germans in 1941. We weren't busy. We keeping out noses out of it pretty much.
And no one will ever invade the US so keep calm and carry on.

The biggest problem facing America today is that nobody seems to understand that we HAVE BEEN invaded. Past tense. During the vietnam war they said "one more generation and it's ours". Sleep on.

I agree with you completely. While it wasn't by a uniformed army that carries guns themselves, we have definitely been invaded. At the risk of opening YET ANOTHER CAN OF WORMS...
We have been invaded by a liberal idealogy that gives political correctness and civil liberties higher values than our constitution and the principles on which this nation was founded. Morality and decency have been flushed for the sake of political correctness and civil liberties. Special interest groups have been given preference at the cost of the liberties of the majority. Foreign religions that directly conflict with the foundation of our constitution have been elevated and given preference while Christianity, whose beliefs and principles were at the foundations of our nation, is now viewed as a religion of intolerance, haters and bigots. Our political system has bypassed the checks and balances put into place by our founding fathers and is no longer a government "of the people, by the people and for the people" (Lincoln's Gettysburg Address) but is more "(done) to the people, (taken) from the people and despite the people".
I am not blaming one political party or any individual political leader, rather the political process and mindset that appears to have no regard for decency and the foundations of a great nation. When it becomes politically incorrect to use terms such as terrorists or enemies in the same sentence as Islam or Muslim... our leaders have lost touch with reality. When we put more stock in what others nations might think than we do in the effectiveness of proven tactics (from waterboarding to carpet bombing) then our leaders have lost touch with reality. When "collateral damage" becomes a higher priority than the lives of American soldiers, our leaders have lost touch with reality. When we can't see where we can make budget cuts, yet send millions to billions of dollars to nations that are killing our citizens, our leaders have lost touch with reality. When we have people here at home that cannot afford to feed their family, yet our nation is sending food by the ton to countries that kill our citizens, there is something wrong with our leadership. When the focus is on extending unemployment claims rather than finding real solutions to unemployment, there is a problem with our leadership. Again, NO, this problem did not begin in November of 2008, but it is time to stop pointing fingers and trying to assign blame and start developing solutions. It is time to start taking care of our own rather than trying to be the protector and provider for the world.
I can't tell you when the "invasion" started, or who was the leader of the invading force, but I do agree that the enemy is already among us.
Well that killed the party!

:)
And there you have it!! :smiley-patriotic-flagwaver-an
Good post, but "we" don't consider gun control. :z-guntootsmiley:
The commies, foriegn and domestic, and other traitorus leeches on our soil consider gun control.
The only thing I consider about gun control is that it's a joke.
Just like communisn, socialism, marxism and a plethora of others.
The japs were wise not to come here.
Others should take that as an example as why not to mess with us :smiley-patriotic-flagwaver-an
