great pics i like the boat!
Thank you. That thing is a Murder Machine! It lets me get in little "safe spots" that the Mud Bats can't get in, and are too deep for waders. The looks on the ducks faces when the sparks start flying is worth the price of admission! It sports the Leopard Print as a nod to the Predator that it is.
I have many more pics from The Trail that I plan to share. I hope people don't think I'm hogging the thread, but some of this stuff is too good not to share. I hope it gets more people interested in Duck hunting, and gets them to give it a try if they otherwise may not have. I like to see dead ducks as much as the next guy, but I also try to mix in some of the smaller things that make it all so great

Awesome! That's what I like to hear. I never post pics up to front how cool I am, or show off. I take a lot of pics out there to give others a view of The Trail, and perhaps something that they don't often get to see. The season is long, and the changes that take place over the course of it are nothing short of amazing. The things you learn out there about your gun, shooting, nature and most importantly, yourself, stick with you and help you feel more connected. Good luck this season on your hunting and please let us all know how you are making out.
sure thing trophytracker, i think our season comes in late October or november
Nice Photos
Trophy, is that a Poke Boat? I have a Maxi-Poke that I paddle and waterfowl hunt with.
Love to take the camera with me when I go. Last year I was in SE LA in the coastal marsh swapping between the Cannon 7D and the shotgun. Then I heard the splash as the &D went swimming in the brackish water. Love insurance, I would have cried instead of laughed when it sank with the 70-200 2.8 lens on it. Could not save the images on the CF card.

Not waterfowl hunting, but using the Poke boat to cross Lake Martin and come in close to some turkeys. paddle one mile or walk 6
B686,
It's a Pelican 120 Kayak that I used some different types of camo tape and paint to transform into a duck killing machine. It's fast and quiet. It allows me to get into some pretty crazy places and then throw into the bed of the truck to go hit other spots down the road. I only take the essentials with me and am able to drag it on to the land and go jump shoot the puddles on the outskirts of the swamp.
Nice pics btw. Looks like you have some pretty cool places to hunt there!
I hunt SE Lousiana, I can leave Montgomery and be there is 4 hours or less. Love the place, been hunting the area for 13 years.
I love the Poke Boat, I bought it because it only weighs 32 pounds (Kevlar). I had my hip replaced and Dr. Said I could not lift anything over 50 lbs. LOL So I sold the Moccasin Boat and bought a Maxi-Poke. LOL The wife liked my reasoning at least. I did order it off the dent and ding specials since I was painting it anyways.
I can toss it in the truck or just over my shoulder and go. I have used it like a lay out boat too and it works great. All you need is a piece of plywood to place on an angle in the back of the cockpit and you are good to go.
Here are a couple pictures of my "new" duck boat. Was one of the old Bailey Bridge Boats the military used for river crossings. Made some modifications, added the blind and pods.

One of my favorites to shoot. Nice Gree wing. Would look good on your wall.
This is from a hunt 12/23. The first good hunt of the year for me. In the Delta near Stuttgart. There were birds everywhere! With all the water, it wasn't a slam dunk, but we finally filled seven limits shortly after lunch!! This dog is my hunting buddy's 14 year old black lab, Kirby. She still gets so excited he can't leave her at home. She made a couple 500 yard cripple retrieves on this hunt that were impressive for any dog, much less one of this age. She will spot more birds than three good hunters. Notice the white hair on her muzzle.
same morning
Ducks we killed in the green timber before heading to the rice field. I killed my first wigeon drake with my first shot of the day. I had been standing back calling and letting others shoot for a couple hours, but thought this was a wigeon and made a good shot of about 45 yards to kill it leaving after three guys had emptied their guns at the group. It did not have the pretty coloring on it's head. I assume this is because it is immature? Maybe someone could tell me?
Beautiful pictures David. The widgeon is probably immature. I killed one a few years ago that was like that, still made a nice mount till my son's pup got a hold of it
