Title: Walnut and pecan
Post by: gobblerhunter on August 17, 2011, 05:54:45 PM
Picture of a walnut pot made for a customer in Missouri.   The pot is a glass over slate with the secondary surface playable.  The glass surface had a special picture and he did not want to obstruct the picture.  This picture was taken prior to me signing it.  This is another piece of beautiful walnut.   I love the multi-colored walnut.

The slate surface was raspy and call is a great finishing call.  The striker is pecan with a birch dowel.   The pecan came from a tree on my brother-in-laws farm in western Kentucky.

Thanks for looking and may God Bless You.

Bill

The piece of pecan was as beautiful as I have ever seen.  I normally would have turn the head more, but did not want to lose the character of the wood.  With the birch dowel,  the strike really made the call  talk turkey.

Thanks for the good comments.
