Title: Montana Decoy
Post by: PureGold on February 15, 2011, 08:33:04 AM
Has anyone used the Montana Decoys? My wife just ordered a pair of them for me. I have a few other decoys, but I was just thinking that it would be nice to have something compact.

Any users out there???

I've tried the silhouette or 2D decoys years ago and they just plain didn't work for me.  I found that a Tom would get confused when coming toward one of these decoys because if they change they angle of approach which they do often the decoy would give the appearance of disappearing or reappearing which either spooked the bird of confused them to the point of turning and leaving before getting close enough for a shot.  I gave mine away to someone many moons ago.  I would carry a collapsible foam decoy before I would use one of them ever again.

I watched a guy on tv with a Montana decoy strutter. He held the gobbler in his left hand and had his shotgun in his right hand on a strutting gobbler. He moved the decoy back and forth like the gobbler was putting on a show. It was pretty cool. I'm using Dave Smith Decoys and I'm not gonna change. Good luck though! :you_rock:
