Title: Hard work pays off!
Post by: Seminole Custom Calls on March 03, 2026, 01:11:31 PM
About 2 years ago I got bit by the trumpet bug. I had no idea then just how much they would affect my life... plenty of sleepless nights that would lead me to the shop because I couldn't sleep I'd have an idea and couldn't stand not to go try it. I sent my 1st trumpet call to grand nationals last year I found out real quick that I wasn't where I needed to be with them.. so I went back to work, kept trying new things changed designs until I finally found the hen I was looking for in my calls. That last line is what matters. I didn't care what anyone else thought I had a call I was extremely confident in and a call that matched the hens I hear in the woods each spring. I'd be lying if I said there wasn't time where I wanted to quit but luckily I had some awesome friends that I met along the way that kept me in line.

Call making is frustrating at times but for me it's the journey and then time spent figuring things out. When you finally get it figured out it's so rewarding as you have found out. Congratulations on your win.

I didn't realize you were one of the judges. But yeah if it hadn't been for one of my friend I wouldn't have been sent any calls in this year.  The friendships made have been the best part by far!
