I came home from my gun club with a never fired 870 12 gauge, with a threaded 20 inch barrel and this being my first 12 gauge for turkey hunting,my thought was to set up for non TSS ammo. At $20 box a box Longbeards XR either #4 or #5,I am looking to match the choke with a Carlson .560 Anyone have any thoughts on my setup, appreciated, And yes at 69 I going to also look for a limb saver, but figure it wouldn't be much different then my TSS Apex 20 gauge.
Magnum BWTF Edition Set Up
That setup will serve you well. My 870 with carlsons longbeard.660 choke and 3"#5 longbeards shoots a great pattern. I use a 20ga now mostly but I will still take the 870 occasionally because it is such a good shooter. The limbsaver will help a lot
For the 870, they like chokes right around .665. They will shoot the LB's and Hevi's really well. Don't discount the LB 6's as a viable option. Go to the Remington pattern pictures section, plenty of PICS with choke and ammo. Indian Creek and Sumtoy are right at the top for the 870.

X2, the Indian Creek shoots Long beard 6's out of my 1187 Special Purpose real fine. Also does well with Hevi-13 #7's. Good all round choke for the short barreled Remi's.
