Title: Pinhotti Jake call
Post by: Will on January 24, 2026, 09:21:32 PM
I recently watched a video where Dave Owens was offering a trial run on Jake style mouth calls. He made three different types as a test run and offered them in a 3 pack for people to test. My vote is the green reed one as you can see why in the picture. Now I know the ability exists to make Jake/Gobbler yelps on other mouth calls, but this one is made to produce those Jake honk type yelps. After testing them out, I do believe I can get that Jake yelp easier than on my other turkey mouth calls.

Since the Maryland winter turkey season started this past Thursday, I was anxious to try these calls in the woods. My hunt started right at daybreak when I yelped 4 times and a bird gobbled less than 100 yards away. I would spend the next several hours talking to three different groups, both Jakes and Gobblers until a group of 3 gobblers came running in after some excited calling from the Jake mouth call. The response I received from this call was amazing. I appreciate the fact Dave Owens mad a specific call for that Jake/Gobbler talk.
