Me? A few new mouth calls. I bought an ALPS turkey fanny pack that may see some time this spring. That's about it for me, there's only so much you can carry. ;D
What are you adding to the overgrowing pile of gear this spring?
About the same for me. I'll make a few mouth calls and that will probably be it. I really need to get rid of stuff rather than add any more. Most of my money spent nowadays is for licenses and trip expenses. ;D
I gotta protect my Boney bottom on these long sits. I'm thinking a new cushy for my tushy. Or maybe, I can just choot em real fast. :funnyturkey:
I plan on adding multiple dead gobblers to my turkey tote :icon_thumright:
New socks, couple of new performance long sleeve T shirts and I need a new bino harness for my other binoculars. I'm good with everything else. I might look into a Burris ff3 for my backup gun since these 48 yo eyes aren't what they used to be.
Just adding a few more calls to my call arsenal along with a few other items..
I add stuff all year long it's turkey 24/7 ... LOL
Added a couple calls at Unicoi.
Other than that, nothing that I can think of.
I'm a pretty simple, streamlined operation. ;D
Going to try a new setup. Bought padded Molle belt. Putting call holders/pouches on the belt. Hoping to get away from the vest. If it works, :jackson: ; if not, it will be another closet queen.
Another 20 gauge, preferably an autoloader if a Mossberg SA-20 tactical turkey ever shows up at a reasonable price.
Need to add a new set of boots haven't decided which direction I want to go in ive always worn lacrosse rubber boots but I ware them out in about a year out here in Eastern Nc.

I would think so..... You have to replenish everyday. I know I wouldn't want to reach into my poke and pull out a stale Little Debbie's Honey Bun! Certainly not after shooting a "Honey Bun Gobbler"!
I don't need anything else. I was tempted by the Ol' Tom sale they had this week, but resisted temptation. ;D

At the end of last season I decided to find a good small pot call for tree calls, purrs, etc. was able to get 3 or 4 good ones, probably carrying Bill Lyman's single slate most of the time.
If I do not hurry up and find my snips, I guess I will be buying a new pair of them

Picked up a Trumpet last October and have been putting in time with it. I have everything else I need.
Added a Remington 870 20ga youth with a IC 562 and Winchester TSS 9s. Have not patterned this combo yet but hoping for good things. Tired of lugging the Mossy 935 around the hills and hollers of WV, and I am getting old.
Also added a new intertube seat from Miss Glenda Green this year, seems nice and may make my old bones sit just a little longer or at least thats the hope
Going with a new Stoeger M3020 Turkey with a Vortex Viper on top. First year with a red dot. Got both Mossbergs redone in new Hydrographics courtesy of Jerry Ethridge.

I might have to buy new pants, a few too many eggnogs over the holidays :cowboy:
I'm only adding a few mouth calls and boxes of shells. Everything worked fine last year and I was too busy with work to make it to Unicoi.
I'm going to be doing the opposite. I'm going to get rid of stuff I don't use. Calls/strikers that need to be in the woods instead of sitting in a cabinet, camo that don't fit, boots I don't wear, etc.

Something I considered, but can't start the cull. Many of my calls were gifts, I can't part with those. The other stuff, maybe the classified on here would be a good place for that. Hmmm.

None of my calls were gifts, so there no guilt in cleaning them out. I listed some calls and strikers in the classifieds today. Not sure what I'm going to do with the camo. I have several sites I can list it on, but shipping it will suck. I use Pirate Ship, but it's still going to be expensive.
Quote from: captpete on January 18, 2026, 03:57:50 PM...but shipping it will suck.
Ain't that the truth! I've got a TON of turkey artwork, bronzes and sculptures, and so many hunting accessories that I would like to put up for sale but the shipping costs for just about everything is UNREAL! Having to add shipping in a price for something really impacts the ability to sell anything. ::)
Picked up a pair of the leg up dsd decoys. Getting a little desperate for the first
I need some new boots. Found out mine aren't waterproof anymore when I was chasing pheasants in the rain! Even with mink oil applied a few days before going.
Maybe a couple JLH strikers, and a new choke to try out, otherwise I'm pretty much set, just need to roll some more shells for the 20ga and 410.
I will be adding some new Granola Bars, Pay Days and Gatorade!
You guys are adding some great stuff!
I am hopeful to add a E Bike for my hunting club hunts. It would be useful for sure. Lots of acreage and rough roads for my vehicle.
I really need a new vest. I've needed one for a couple years actually. My Tactical Tatr II holes just keep getting bigger. I love the vest so much, its hard to part with. Have looked online at the newer vest offerings the past couple years but nothing really has impressed me. And i really don't want to spend $150-200 on a vest I end up not liking.
There's a tactical tatr II on eBay now. Looks like it's in good shape
I picked up a new mouth call and I like it's sound so far... And I picked up this also. The pot call that came with it sounds good and the knee support is something I wish I had sometimes... Hope I can put those to use on a gobbler this spring.

I finally broke down this year and bought a pair of Crispi's. Have a pair of Danner Pronghorns and they are nice but they are darn near the cost of the Crispi boots now. Hopefully they live up to the hype and the abuse I am going to put them through.
Adding a couple new trumpets to the rotation this spring, can't wait to put them to use.

I have several calls to put into the rotation this year.

Look at the un insulated Chene gear rubber boots. I used to wear grange and they'd be worn out 3/4 way through the season. I've had my Chene gear ones for two years now and I wear them fishing, turkey hunting, coyote hunting, rabbit hunting, and deer hunting. I've put a lot of miles on them and probably would have had 3 or 4 more years in them if I didn't drive a nail right through the bottom of them the other day walking the farm.

This is another example of choosing footwear that matches the conditions someone hunts under...and in relation to one's budget. I personally have a distinct aversion to paying several hundred dollars for a pair of boots when a pair that's half that or less will do the job for where I mostly hunt.
As such, my "go to" hunting boots are the Irish Setter Vaprtech...and they suit me just fine 90% of the time. Where I mostly hunt, I don't have to worry at all about such things as "waterproofness". In addition, the cutting edges of the lava rock I do a lot of my hunting in will tear up a $400 pair of boots just as quickly as my $150 pair. ...And wearing anything that has rubber involved is going to last you roughly half a day here.
Now, granted, I have taken those Irish Setters to places where I ended up having wet feet most of the time, but in the debate I have about spending a few hundred dollars to get something for those conditions versus putting up with wet feet for a few days a year...well, the wet feet currently are winning that debate. Perhaps that will change at some point...but that noted aversion I have as stated above is currently holding steadfastly. ;D :angel9:

Same here with the grange but man I bought a pair of the chene boots at the start of last turkey season and I tossed them months ago after the liner came loose and the rubber split in multiple spots. Decided to try the grubbs grange copy and they lasted maybe 2 months before the soles came off. Now I have some Muck grange copies that have been great so far. 🤞

Forgot where I saw it, but someone is making Nylon waders for temp use, like crossing creeks and such. Light, easy to fold and carry, just slip em on over your boots and cross. Not made for much walking, but could be the ticket.

You're absolutely right. That's a great point. You definitely have to match your gear to where you hunt. I never know where I'll end up or what the land is going to look like when I get there.
I also have a hatred of overpaying for something when a product that costs less will suffice. I've tried several pairs of hiking style boots ranging from Rocky, to Irish Setter, Danner and other comparable brands, with gaiters and I've come to the conclusion that hiking type boots (for me) are not as comfortable and do not check enough of my boxes for me to waste money on them personally.
I might be in the mountains, I might be in a cattle pasture, I might be in a swamp, or I might be in a combination of two or more of them. But one thing that I'm certain of, more than my hatred of overpaying for something, is my unwillingness to have wet feet. So I wear reasonably priced rubber boots that last. I can do without ankle support of hiking boots to have dry feet. Now don't get me wrong, if I had to go over my boots in a swamp or creek to get to where I needed to call a gobbler, I would with no hesitation. But I'm not starting my morning off with wet feet and pants just for the hell of it. Like most of you, I survive and tolerate most months of the year to actually do what I consider living for the few short months of turkey season. I don't want to be miserable and pissed off the small amount of time I get out there compared to the amount of time it takes for season to roll back around

Pop up blind. Always looking for the ultimate vest.
A flintlock 20ga fowler with 38 inch Colerain turkey choke barrel when my dad gets it finished in a couple weeks and a couple Charles May Bird and Trout knives for me and my son.
I'm going from a vest last season to a fanny pack for this season to see if I can keep a little more mobile for run and gun hunting. Also trying to keep the calls to a select few so I can get more proficient with what I'm taking afield with me.
Boots ,and a new tube
A few diaphragm calls and thats it. Spending enough money on home remodeling.
A long time doing this -- will still add a few diaphragm calls, always tinkering --- I'm still a single or true double fan -- I don't have a favorite maker yet, but still searching. I long for the days of .25 lead calls.
May try a new pair of pants.

I need a new face mask, had a leafy hat with a mask built in I liked but the hat was not great. Anyone have a good leafy mask they have used?
Need to load some shells too.
Unfortunately, I tell myself every winter I don't need anything and you guys KILL me with the CLASSIFIEDS LOL. This year was my first trumpet and a green slate pot. THANKS FELLAS!!!
I got a new cane yelper from an undisclosed maker as well as one from EZ. Other than that, about 3k in license.
Boots! I've been wearing the same pair of lacrosse aeroheads now for quite a few seasons and really need something lighter and cooler! They are fine for early on,but get really uncomfortably hot and heavy as season rolls on. Plus, I've been hunting some new areas that require a lot more walking and hill climbing.

Added a new turkey gun to the arsenal.
I've been running my old Mossberg 500 20 gauge for years that I built into my dedicated turkey slayer. This year, I decided to do a budget build 12 gauge.
Picked up a Tristar Cobra 3 Force Pump. Removed the spring that "forces" the forend. Added a Mossy Oak Graphics vinyl wrap in Greenleaf, a Glenda Green sling in Greenleaf, A Godagrip cheek pad, an AT3 Tactical rd-50 red dot, and have a JEBS Headhunter choke I'm about to put in it.
Thing kicks like a mule but I'm loving how light it is with only an 18.5" barrel. And the patterns have been great with LBXR #6 out to 50+
I don't post much and can't get the pics to attach lol
Just ditched my rifle sights for a red dot, got some snake gaiters to wear with my leather hikers instead of the rubbers, and a diaphragm call pouch. No more rattling cases in pockets.
Also going to try a bladder style hose for a Nalgene bottle as my water supply. My only worry is noise from the water sloshing. If so I'll just go back to the platypus hoser system.
I bought a 12 pack of new socks. That's about it. Gobblers haven't changed neither has my equipment
bought some bullheads, new arrows and feathers to try and kill one with my bow this year
Got new NMG pullover (replacement) new mouth calls, getting my gun dipped and cerakote, new Glenda gun sling, woodpecker call, probably buy some green leaf pants, new lacrosse grange (replacement)
Who knows what else lol usually pick up a pot call every year and I think I still need to buy more shells.

Well I unfortunately added a new to me again BPS 10 gauge. There's a backstory here.
Sometime in the late '90's or early '00's my best friend called me and told me that a LGS had bought a Browning collection and that it included a factory BPS turkey gun. I bought it and never hunted it. A couple years later he asked if I'd let his dad borrow it to turkey hunt with so I lent it to him.
About a year after they both started leaning on me to sell it so dad could have it. I finally caved in and sold it to my buddy to give to his dad with the stipulation that when he died I get it back.
Unfortunately he passed away three weeks ago and my buddy gave me the gun last Saturday. The good thing is he used in to kill several birds.

Yeah I love those guns. When they mandated non toxic shot for waterfowl in the '90' I bought one because the early shells were so bad.
Thanks for the heads up on the shells. My buddies and both his brothers aren't turkey hunters so they gave me his stash of shells and chokes. Dad was a lawyer so he kept all kinds of files. They gave me a binder clip full of patterning targets with his notes.
Just got a new Glenda Green minimalist satchel, and I can't wait to use it this spring

That is a great gun, smooth action and not as heavy as the semi's. I regretfully sold mine a few years back and regret it. Good luck with it. Try the Winchester Double X number 5's. Deadly combo
Amen brother, good luck with it and let me know how it patterns. I have good luck with the Double X shells with a Pure Gold .690 choke in my Browning Gold 10. I love the gun, but it's a tank at around 10 pounds. If I want to "work out" as I hunt, I'll tote it (lol), or if I get a stubborn Tom that won't cooperate for a few days, I'll grab it. The mighty 10 spends more time in my safe, than the field, but I won't part with it!
