Title: Zero tech input needed
Post by: bigbird on December 28, 2025, 06:30:33 PM
I'm looking at getting a new optic on my gun. My red dots are Star bursting real bad and I read that I need a green dot instead of a red dot. I'm looking for input from anyone who has one. Good or bad I just want to hear what you think. Thank you

I shoot USPSA competition and put 10s of throusands of rounds through red dot guns annually. I too struggle with starbursty dots and I have tried just about every red dot on the market to try and remedy it. I have heard some people say that green bursts less for them, but its actually worse for me. I have also found that different brands and even models within brands starburst more or less for my eyes, contrary to what others have said. I think your best bet is to go to a shop and look through a bunch til you find the one thats best for you. If you can't do that, just buy the smallest moa dot you can get. I have a 1moa trijicon sro on a revolver that i deer hunt with, and although it bursts, it is still a very small precise dot. The holosuns and new vortex defender dots are very good and you can get them in red or green and 2-3moa, depending on the model. I run Holosuns on all my turkey guns and my competition 9mms.

I'm fighting that now and all the customers we deal with say green. (I learn from yall as much as yall do from me).  Now one local to me that fights it VERY bad told me to turn it down to as low as you can.  That help mine a bunch to dim the dot way down.
