Title: Sunday Morning Drive
Post by: zelmo1 on December 22, 2025, 05:47:03 AM
Got up sunday morning and the wife says, " Lets get a coffee and take a ride around the loop". Timing was good so it was a go. We traveled our usual route and saw 21 toms. 14 were the almost 2 year old variety and 7 were old dugga turkey boys. It did us a lot of good to speculate what our hunting would be like this spring. I hope Y'all have a great holiday season.  :santaclaus: Z

We do the same here sometimes.  Great way to spend a morning. Hope the weather  doesn't get too rough on them. 3 and half months and counting. Merry Christmas everyone

Come on down Gnut. I am sure I could squeeze a late season bird out for you. Z

That sounds like a fun ride. A drive like that would not yield the same results around here. Our birds don't seem to like spending much time in the open. You might see a few birds every once in a while, but on a regular basis it's not a good bet. There are acres and acres of fields on my valley road and I have not seen a turkey in a field all winter, but the deer hunters have 25 to 30 on their feeder cameras every day. Just a couple hundred yards from field edges. I like it that way, no road scouting.

It's always great to see turkeys anytime... I've seen a bunch this year and the amount of gobbling has been amazing. Merry Christmas
