Title: Rollin' in PA
Post by: Yoder409 on October 18, 2025, 10:44:33 PM
Been hearing them off and on over the last couple weeks.

Was in a treestand this morning listening to several gobblers on both sides of tbe valley AND what sounded like a group of hen/poults straight up the hill behind me.

I never, EVER tire of that sound !!!!!

It's been very quiet in my neck of western PA haven't seen any poults. Did finally see a two gobblers along the river by my home. Hoping everything is ok with population. There was a lot of turkey activity in the spring, but nobody I know personally bagged a bird.

Yeah.... the crazy-wet June we had (also in PA) didn't bode well for the hatch.  I'm not getting any trailcam pics of large fall flocks.

I heard a few gobbles on opening day bow season a few weeks ago. It felt weird to be hearing gobblers and not responding to them right away  ;D

The bigger question is, did you kill an archery buck? Pa hunter myself.

Ended up coughing and hacking with the flu right whn I shoulda been doing 12 hour days in a tree.  Missed the entire last 3 weeks of the season.

The same thing happened to me last year during the peak of the rut.  Last year was pneumonia, this year was not quite as bad, but close.  I got better in time for Pa rifle, went up there and killed a nice buck, and got sick aqgain after that haha.

I wear myself down too much during the rut.
