Title: It has been hectic and Hot, but here is a trumpet caller I finished up.
Post by: pappy on August 04, 2011, 07:12:50 PM
Let me start off with a big thank you for all the prayers and thoughts during our moments of tragedies and medical needs. We got back from St. Louis with my wife's mother and she is home doing better. She did lose a brother though the day we admitted her in the hospital and things have been very hectic. The temp is super hot, but we did manage to sneak out in the shop in the late afternoon hours and finished up on a trumpet caller I have been working on. It is all one piece (except for the mouthpiece) cast acrylic, made from semi transparent pearled Sunset Orange. The mouth piece is made from a piece of clear lexan and drilled out to 3/32" the stopper is rubber and the ferule is turned brass. This call sounds super great, it is 8 - 3/4" long with a 1 - 1/4" bell. I will be making a lanyard for it tonight. Enjoy...pappy

I hope your call making can give you the "escape" we all need in tough times. Great looking trumpet, I gotta try one some day as it's the only one I haven't tried.

I love that acrylic, pappy, and I'm glad you've gotten some of your family issues settled and are having more time in the shop.  I look forward to seeing some more work!!

Wow!  You do a beautiful job with the acrylic.  That is a material I have no desire to work with... I'll leave it to those with more patience.  ;)
