Title: Off season gear acquisition?
Post by: Tail Feathers on September 01, 2025, 12:40:17 PM
I tend to look for bargains in the off season for turkey gear.  Rogers Sporting Goods has some good prices on some of the turkey vests.
I bought a Deception Ground Blind that someone here posted up about, and bought a Bottom land T shirt yesterday I found at a good price.

I don't have much need for more gear, so outside a new tent for camping next spring I'm about caught up on turkey hunting needs.

And speaking of turkey camo...in looking at The Mossy Oak Store and they don't show any Obsession in their pants and shirts.  Have they gone away from my favored pattern?

Looking for modular vest right now with most of weight on belt.  Looking at Marsupial but not sold.  Not much luck finding what I want. Prefer bottomland.

I have read that several people like the Cabelas Tactical TAT'R Pro vest.  Good buy on one on EBay right now for off season pickup.

Not so young Turk, I foolishly clicked that link and bought the vest.  I like mine, now I have a backup that I really don't need.  Thanks, I think.

You're welcome.  I think :TooFunny: It seemed like a heck of a buy if you wanted a backup.

Thank you Yelpster.  I may give it a try.

At this point in time, I am hoping that I have acquired the self-restraint to resist adding any more turkey hunting stuff to my collection of "gear that I thought I just had to have...but have never used and most probably never will". I have heard my lovely wife say "when are you going to get rid of some of that *#*%?" enough times now that it is beginning to sink in. Besides, I have about run out of "black hole" drawers and closets to stuff the latest and greatest turkey hunting paraphernalia into.   ;D  :D

As spring draws nigh, we will see if that restraint I so confidently speak of here in the off-season evaporates or not. I think I have one corner in a closet that I might be able to stuff another "gotta have it" something or other into...without the boss knowing about it, of course.  ;D

I'm pretty much to the point now of ammo being the only hunting item I care to buy.  Mark my words! :toothy12:  :character0029:
