with fall turkey coming in soon across the states...what are any observations regarding flydown times. is it the same as in spring. not counting extreme weather.
I have fall hunted for decades and typically birds will wait a little longer to fly down in the fall. If the weather is bad they may stay up well into daylight. In good weather they will usually wait until it's fully light and the whole group has called back and forth some. They may even fly from tree to tree to get closer together. I'd dsy average fly down is 20 minutes later in the fall.
I have experienced similar times. Where I duck hunt the turkeys roost right over the river. They shock gobble at the duck calls but not the shooting. It really doesn't scare them enough to fly down either, lol. They fly down when they are ready as always. Z
My experience is they fly down about the same time maybe a few minutes later. My goal for fall hunting, is bust them off the roost..make sure they fly in as many directions as possible then call them right back in. Usually don't have to go far at all.
