This is a very unusual piece of wood, called "Oregon Ironwood or Mountain Mahogany". It is a super dense domestic wood (same density as Desert Ironwood) and sounds like it too, which is a good thing. It reminds me a bit of Pink Ivory in the looks department. I found a nice chunk of this wood and cut it into a handful of blanks, another option for stateside wood.

Very nice Greg
Beautiful work! Like learning about different woods too!

Very nice.....
That's not a wood I'm familar. I like dense woods for trumpet yelpers. I wonder as it ages if it will develop a patina. Regardless, the call has an elegance. I know it's all turkey...........
Nice! I've been wanting to try that stuff.
Very nice. It has a pinker hue of some of the dogwood we used to use to make golf clubs.

Appreciate it......first one I have turned out of this billet, not sure what it is going to look like down the road.

It sounds great, I am pleased with it. Turns fine too.
Nice caller, interesting wood
Very sharp.
I believe Zach Farmer said in a seminar that mt. Mahogany was the wood he used for the first trumpet he made
Looks good!

We'll I know it sounds amazing because mine is an absolute smoker!!
Honestly one of my favorite woods. Mine is more orange than pink. Very tight-grained, dense domestic wood. To me it's very resonant. Makes a beautiful trumpet as you can see!

This does have a slight orange tint to it as well, definitely makes a fine trumpet. I believe you may have been the person who mentioned this wood to me?
It's a good tonewood, we have been making woodwind musical instruments, bagpipes mostly, from it for a couple decades now. Cook Woods always seems to have some.

Hey Seth....interesting, didn't know it was used on bagpipes, makes sense that it works well on trumpets too.
Very nice
