With turkey season being winding down and closing throughout the country it's time to start planning for next season. Next season I'd like to hunt some different places in my home state and surrounding states. My question for you is how far are you willing to travel to hunt for only one day? There are quite a few new places I could visit next year that are around 2-2.5 hours away.
Most of my spots are 2-2.5hrs away - one way. Some spots are 3-3.5hrs away one way.
It takes alot out of me to go hunt those places. Getting up at 3am, hunting most the day and then driving home can get pretty tiring.
I'm willing to drive up to 5 hours to hunt a day

Age can make a big difference. For me now 2 hours. Thirty years ago double that.
1hr max.
Anything over a couple of hours has the option of me sleeping in the truck and hunting the second day.
I don't drive over an hour for a day trip. Anything over 2 hours I'm staying to hunt the next day.
Age has definitely changed the answer to this question. I'd say about 3 1/2 hours at this point, because I did that last year, but to qualify that answer, it was supposed to be a two day trip but unexpected rain developed.
Twenty five years ago, I would probably have been willing to drive 5 hours if it was my only option.

This is me also, I am getting too old for that drive home in the dark. It gets too hard to stay awake. Z
