I'm feeling pretty good about my family's turkey success this year. For the first time ever, all three of my kids were able to find time to hunt, and to top it off, all three got a bird!
My oldest is not really a "kid." He's 21. He hasn't hunted since he was 16 due to being busy with school, work, girls, and video games. He also admitted he doesn't care for the all day running and gunning his dad prefers. I was pleasantly surprised when he said he wanted to turkey hunt this year. It was the first time he hunted on his own without dad playing hunting guide.
My daughter is a super athlete and hasn't had much time for anything outside of sports. The only time she got to go turkey hunting was during covid when all sports were cancelled. We weren't able to get a bird that time. Now she's in college and down to one sport so she had time to go. The weather was terrible with high winds and rain for days on end but we we eventually were able to make it happen.
My youngest just started hunting last year. We didn't have any luck that time but he was ready to go when the season came around this year. He got a bird on our first day out.
Congratulations to all! That's great!
That's memories of a lifetime
