Finally getting low on hevi 13 #6 2oz. About 7-8 rounds left. I have a box of 1 3/4 oz #9 TSS to burn through as well. Shooting an 1187 spsT with rifle sights. Looking for choke to replace my truglo SSX TG150X. Need something that will throw a hunting pattern no more than max 40yds and in to mainly 25-30 yds for both loads listed above
I've been eyeing an ic .665, sumtoy .665 Carlson .675 or a Remington SF HS or a Remington xf .687 any recommendations ?
Still working on building a 20 gauge TSS gun 😁
I have a Rem HS SF (.675) in my 1187. It probably shoots tighter than what you are looking for as it puts 50% of the total shot in the load in the 10" and about 85% in the 20 at 40 yds. I imagine the same will be true with most of the chokes you listed (.665s). Rem's XF (.687) choke or even a factory full will likely be closer to what you are looking for if you are serious about 40 yds being your max. But really, if you are looking at 25-30 yd shots with a max of 40, I probably would not be shooting TSS.
That sf/hs sounds very interesting. I agree the XF or maybe a 675 Carlson's might be more the ticket. 100% agree TSS is overkill for a 12 in my opinion. I am just using rifle sights on this turkey setup for this gun(hence the 40 yds and in) as it goes back to a regular stock and 26" barrel for doves and duck backup after the spring season. But it is still nice to have the ability to put this gun back into turkey mode with the shur shot stock and short turkey barrel. Been delaying a 20 ga build for a few years lol. I am always behind in new tech for turkey gear. Just switched to hevi shot 5-6 yrs ago. I was a lead purist until then.
