I have a short box I had made by Mr Sam Pope of Chatahoochie Game calls he's a great guy lives near my hometown and took the time out of his day to probably spend an hour and a half with me talking and helping me get better. I really liked the sound of some long boxes that he let me get my hands on and could see myself loving it in the woods but it just doesn't seem realistic to carry.
Do some people carry a long and a short? Any tips for how they carry their long boxes in the woods?

I carry a short box in my vest and my long box in a holster made by Glenda Green. I had her put a loop on the bottom too and made an adjustable sling with paracord. Yoder on here makes leather ones and I don't have one but he gets high remarks.

I carry the long box in a holster on my belt and a regular box in my vest.
In 20 years of hunting, i have probably carried a box call less than 5 times. To me, it's just too bulky, and I can get the job done plenty well enough without them. Plenty of guys love them, though. I believe Yoder on here makes a good holster for the long box if you are looking for a good way to carry one.
That would be my suggestion
I am getting one from Yonder thanks fellas

Two Snozzes and a Van Cise on a tactical belt with a magnetic buckle. Slide out of the truck, snap it around your waist and off you go.
I always carry a short and long box. I have leather holsters for mine. I use a long box for locating and even calling to the gun. you can get so many turkeys from one long box.

Good choice. His long box holsters imo are the best.
Regarding your question I never carry a short box. A long box does all it could and more.
I prefer a long box and have a Matt Van Cise long box that lives in a Yoder holster. With that being said, I absolutely hate carrying a box call. I can count on one hand the number of times I've carried a box call in 25 years of hunting and still have fingers left over. I just enjoy messing with them around the house. The value to aggravation ratio is just too much for me. But a good friend of mine gifted me an aluminum lid short box from Roger Parks and I will, without a doubt, be carrying it next season. It sounds good, and sentimental value tipped the scales and I'll deal with the aggravation

I think the turkey vest market is trending away from box calls and it irks me. @paboxcall - I like your style. This year I went with a chest rig w/o a seat and enjoyed it. I need to get hooked up with Yoder and see about getting me one of these rigs. I have a Mann longbox and hybrid that I want to take in the woods next spring and the turkey vests don't really afford the opportunity to. Thought about setting up a K&H R-n-G as a second option, but would still be lacking a box call solution.

The RNG box call pocket has a slit in the back and a long box can ride in there no problem
