I Just ordered a stevens 301 in bottom land 410. I kind of bought this to play with. I like to shoot a few birds with 410 just for the experience. I watched a lot of reviews on the gun. from what I understand the factory choke is .388 . I plan on just using that choke. I am new to TSS and its very hard to get in New York state with all the hoops you have to jump through. I will probably only try one kind of tss in this gun. Obviously not The best way to find the best combo. of course, if that first load is very bad I have to do something, but really don't plan to shoot over 35Yards, but like to have a huntable group out to 40. to get to my question what would you recommend for the factory choke. In NY we can't go smaller than 9's . I was thinking of trying the Herter's. I could get that shipped to a bass pro about a 1 1/2 hours away. Those of you that have spent some time with this gun probably have a good idea where I should start. I know each gun is different. But if you new you probably only be able to get one factory load witch would it be ???
My kids have killed birds with both the federal TSS 9s and the Boss 9s. I bought both for pattern testing to find the better one and they both were pretty identical thru the factory choke.

Use the Apex ninja 9.5s in my son's, has performed tremendously.
Avoid apex. The new low brass is garbage and most of them wouldn't eject from my sons Rossi. Didn't have the issue with KGW - spend a bit more and go with Kinetic Gunwerks offering. I run the 10s personally but pick your poison. You're getting quality product from Erik no matter what you choose.
Also if you call him he'll make you a pattern pack so you don't have to buy 5 boxes to try
I bought some verdict for my kids .410 and it throws a great pattern.

I have an old .410 with fixed full choke that is .388
So far have patterned the #9.5 7/8 oz. Apex ninjas and #9 Browning tss in it.
The Browning 13/16 9's are patterning better.

My Stevens loves the Browning also.
Probably too late with this...but my gun likes Verdict. I spent some money patterning this gun before I ever used it. Tried 3 different chokes and 3 different brands of shells. The Verdict with an Indian Creek .390 won out and I haven't used anything else since. This year's box of 5 killed 5 turkeys.
We get along real good with Foxtrot 838 in 9.5.
