Title: Hunting before a front
Post by: Notsoyoungturk on April 29, 2025, 01:02:22 PM
I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were about hunting before a front.  I have had great success after a front and some in the rain but it seems like gobblers in our area shut down before a front.  Is it the dropping barometric pressure?  Is it just the gobblers in my area?  Thoughts.

I have never paid any attention to it. When I was working but had the day off and it was nice, I went hunting. Today even though I'm retired it's the same way. Don't get me wrong but if it's really raining hard in the morning when I get up, I'll check the forecast and head out later when it stops or at least slacks off. Bottom line is I wait all year for the spring season, and I'll hunt as many days as I can.  You never know when they will open up, but you need to be there when they do.

I still work so I have to hunt when I can.  It was simply an observation and I wondered if it was just me.

I look at turkey hunting like i did when I was tournament fishing. I have to figure it out for a given day. Here in Illinois your only given a few days for each tag .... so I hunt every day I can.
