We are heading back to kentucky next week. Went last year and was plagued with some real poor weather. Any reports from the field how they are acting so far?
Acting like turkeys, but not spring turkeys. I've hunted several counties, ranging from central, eastern, and somewhat western Ky and not much gobbling, grouped up still in areas.

Not much gobbling in W KY. Just got one here this morning, first one I could work in three days. Outfitter says they are acting like the end of season.
Lots of Jake's here tho.
The very short LBL general season going on now. Be interesting to see the final totals.

I agree with this. I tagged out and the one I got yesterday was the first one that acted like a spring turkey. Lots of Jakes here as well. Youth season despite the crappy weather was on fire

opening day for us was hot hunted two more days this week, one we never heard a gobble and today they roost gobbled and shut up once on the ground. We hunted 4 different counties from east to central with same results. I think later will be better
Thanks everybody. Been seeing similar on social media. Maybe next week will be enough time for them to heat up. Struggled all year in the home state. Only been around 1 bird all season that acted right pretty much. Odd year.
I'm in north central Ky. Some are seemingly staying henned up right now but starting to find more and more birds "ready to die" I think you will be timing it well

I saw a ton of strutters off the interstate last Friday and Sunday driving from Nashville to Bowling Green
Slow start. Very little gobbling and only 1 killed opening weekend on the property where I hunt which isn't the norm. Buddy went yesterday and said they were a little more vocal. I'm gonna give it a go in the morning so we'll see
I was in Eastern Ky Sunday through Weds and didn't hear a gobble. Seen 4 hens that was it!
