Title: Huntstand Issues
Post by: Neill_Prater on April 14, 2025, 11:21:11 PM
Just wondering if anyone else is having issues with Huntstand since their last update? I don't care for the new format, seems a convoluted way to get to the various options, but I can live with that. My problem is I have apparently lost all the info I saved on the maps, including harvests, from the last 5 years or so when I started using it all the time. . Not the end of the world, but very irritating.

I contacted their customer service who told me to force stop the app, then restart. I've done so multiple times, but to no avail.

Yes. Since last update it is garbage.  Offline maps sometimes won't pop up.  Other times it takes a long time to get it to load any information.  I really don't want to switch to on x.  And lose all my marked spots.

I'm also having issues. I absolutely hate the new update and wish i'd never have installed it. I have Really considered switching to OnX but I really don't want to have to try and move 10 years (?) worth of pins and data over to OnX manually. An issue I was having with all of my hunt areas was when i opened the area for the first time, I had no pins or lines that were previously there. It looked like a fresh blank map. The fix i eventually found was to open the map, top center of the screen beneath the area name there is a button that say "filter". Click that button, click deselect all, click apply. Go back into filter, click select all, click apply. After I do that, all of my stuff comes back. Let me know if that helps or not. I'm still considering the switch.

Blake 08, thanks for the information, but, unfortunately, mine is still not showing up. Perhaps they will eventually download a fix and my waypoints will reappear. Unlikely, but one can always hope..

I began keeping track of my kills 25 years ago when I bought my first GPS. Then when I started using a smartphone, I began keeping track on Google maps. Eventually I switched to recording on Huntstand. I wish now I had stuck with Maps.

I lost that info initially... but it came back. The update was last year . I don't like the new format either , but have gotten used to it. In some ways they actually did make it better . Yes the app will randomly close out while in use .... But it did that before the update as well . As far as getting it the info back.... I remember contacting them , and before I even had a reply it just came back.... I don't remember doing anything special

Having some of the same issues and fortunately wasn't deep into the mountains on an elk hunt last fall when the offline maps quit working.

After a call to their help desk, had to run back into town to delete and reload the App.  Worked ok from then on.

I'm almost to the point of ditching and going to OnX for a few hunts out west this year. Not digging the prep work as the map layers suck and do miss the older version!!  Even having difficulty downloading .kmz files now.

I just renewed my huntstand.
Not a real fan of it.
I think next go around I will not renew and go with Onx.

I left OnX years ago and went to HuntStand. After the recent changes I went back to OnX and like it much better. Only thing that sucks is HuntStand doesn't allow you to export the files so you have to start all over.

Lotta people ditching Huntstand since the change. OnX is most popular. I'm using BaseMap and like it well enough.
