Post by: Huntershep on April 14, 2025, 08:41:35 PM
Looking for some people that hunt in North Texas. This will be my first year turkey hunting, I'm  looking for some tips on what to look for to be successful.

I have hunted around wheeler most of my life. Find water or the biggest cottonwoods on the place. They will fly down to an opening so be ready. The strutters fly down first. Don't hunt them too hard or they will move. If you get a bird to gobble in the afternoon, you can kill him. Have fun!

Nice to see legitimate tips and not incessant worry about "spot burning".  This is the way these forums once were. :anim_25: new guy.

Whats north texas? Dfw area? Wheeler is what I'd call the panhandle.

You hunting private or public, obviously public is very limited and completely over run with hunters. Private, if there are birds should be able to pattern pretty quickly.
