Title: Billy Buice trumpet pricing
Post by: Zacw on April 11, 2025, 03:33:21 PM
Can someone help me on pricing for Billy Buice trumpet?  Like what's the going rate for one in good condition?  I'm new to trumpet calls and am looking at one for sale but have no idea how much these go for.

I'd guess entry level hunting calls 850-1000 now a days.

That is the price-check out the 'bay. There are a several really good trumpets out there for much less cash.

Crazy but what they seem to be going for. I remember a couple on the marketplace here going for over $900 in the few weeks.

There's one right now that just hit $700, guess I'll try elsewhere. I could buy a pile of calls for that much money

Buice price right now? A good rule of thumb is to think of the craziest amount of money you could ever imagine paying for a turkey call... and then double it 😳

500 on the low end  IF you can get in touch with him.  Those eBay prices have caused him to raise prices to try to curtail the massive markup and resale of his calls.

Beautiful one on eBay that I am surprised it has not gone higher, though there is still time. They have stuck to that 750-1000 on the secondary market including eBay.

I was going to grab the latest one that has been on eBay for about a week. Ebony w/ ebony mouthpiece. Went for around $860 or so. I don't understand the bozo's that bid on eBay. Why would you run the price of something you want up intentionally with your bozo bids days before the auction is closing. I can tell you this...if I want something on eBay, I am going to get it. You will not outbid me, and you will not have the last bid no matter what you do. It is what it is. If I wanted the call; it would be on its way to me. I just can't see paying a grand for a trumpet when it isn't going to make me sound any better than the ones I already have. The sound you get from a trumpet is based on your technique, not the call. Some are going to be easier than others I guess but they all pretty much run the same - just like your boxes, your glass pots, your slates, etc. The cuts on a diaphragm give you the sound. If you can run one, your going to get the rasp out of it. Not so with trumpets and I don't see the benefit of chasing that sound with $$$. Someday maybe someone will crack the code and produce a trumpet where the rasp is a component of the call similar to the diaphragm. Till then, i will just keep practicing with what I have.
