GOOD LUCK to ALL!  Scouting has been VERY productive this week, in Eastern NC, with multiple gobblers sighted, in various locations, but only a few gobbles at first light.  I hope they want to play but getting in the woods after them will be exciting.  Best of Luck to ALL that kick off tomorrow.  BE SAFE!

Thanks!  It's the calm before the storm here in NC. Tired of sitting the bench waiting to play.

I couldn't make the opener this morning. The ex wife had a company trip so I'm here hanging out with my daughter. It was cold and windy in my section of Virginia this morning. A few of my buddys heard a few but couldn't get them close.

I made it happen on Georgia's opener so I'm good. Tomorrow will be my opening day in my home state. Cold and a little breezy tomorrow but I can't wait!

Scouting and God's blessing paid dividends this morning at 7:55 am.  Nice 10 inch beard, spitting and drumming to the end of the gun barrel.  He only gobbled 3 times but those gobbles gave me his exact location until the spitting and drumming could be heard at 75 yards.

I bought a share of some hunt club land over the winter and that's where we youth hunted. Went there yesterday and I'd have been better off on public. It was a mad house.

Scott, I hunt leased land as well and there are 2 things I've noticed about hunting our leased property.  1. Expect those that work Monday through Friday to be in the woods on Saturday and Sunday 2. If your opener falls on a Saturday, then it is 10X worse.  If you can, hunt Monday thru Fridays when everyone else is working and kids are in school and you'll have the place to yourself.  Good Hunting Brother!

Thank you sir, I've hunted public since I was old enough to drive and that how it typically is there as well. This is my first "private" property I've had to go to in 15 years, the club has two properties for general hunting neither are terribly big, one is 197 acres and the other is 136 acres. The larger one had myself and four others there at 5 am. And 3 more trucks rolled in after daylight. I didn't expect such a "small" property to see so many hunters.

Yesterday morning went pretty well. Early off the roost they were henned up but around 9:30 the hens started leaving and two made a fatal mistake as my buddy and I doubled up.

Jeff, It's only an hour and half drive to Ky from my house. We drive it whenever we want to go. I will be back at it MOnday. Today I go to church and besides Sundays are usually a free for all zoo. We hunt private land but still it gets interesting as the landowners let several people hunt.
