Let's get the story thread rollin'. Post your stories here of successful, or (unsuccessful) hunts.
*Also if everyone could only use the Harvest Thread sticky at the top for pictures/scores please and thank you.
Slept in this morning with the possibility of rain moving in...shooting a soaking wet bird is something I'm not partially fond of.
The two previous mornings have consisted of a particular group of 6 jakes running off the two longbeards where I hunt. One of the jakes is the boss...he's not mature but if you shot him just based on his gobble you'd be getting a ticket.
Yesterday morning my dad had a strutter almost in range but the jakes saw him from over 300 yards away and took off after him. I tried to slow them down but they came by me way too fast and I couldn't stop them.
The jakes have even kidnapped the group of hens...I'm real close to grabbing a youth somewhere and taking out the ring leader!

The weirdest thing happed to me on this 3-18-25 Osceola hunt. We set up in a remote part of a swamp, watermark on the trees were around 6 foot high, (Used Zelmo's height as a gauge). We strike up the gobbler, he was coming right into me. Out in front of me was a small hill with thick brush on it. He gobbled right behind it at about 40 yards. Just then, a whitetail came out and headed right towards the hill. I knew this could be a problem, the deer was only 25 yards from me. It stepped up the hill, got on its hind legs and started pulling leaves off the branches. I still couldn't see the Tom. A few minutes passed, he gobbled about 200 yards away? I know I didn't spook him, the deer had to. He gobbled a few times, but did not come. Then, we hit him with a gobble on the box call, he answered aggressively. After a minute or so, he gobbled much closer, in front of me. Then I caught the red head moving in. He stepped behind a huge Cypress, I made a small shift. He stepped out at 35, bang! A memory I'll never forget, sharing it with Zelmo and Mike Robare.
Congrats again Tom, awesome hunt shared with awesome people, and beach time with the wife, dont get much better!!

Solid plan! An unruly group of jakes can be real problem.
