Title: Last minute turkey gun setup... suggestions?
Post by: tddeangelo on March 28, 2025, 05:02:01 PM
I've put up other threads, so I'll spare the back story here. Short version is a couple of weeks ago I learned my health situation requires me to not use my trusty old 12ga 870 anymore.

I picked up a Beretta A300 Ultima in 20ga and need a choke.... and it's last minute, to say the least.

Any suggestions? Indian Creek is sold out, likely most of the others are too.

I just looked.  Sumtoy is sold out (but I would call)
Trulock is in stock (I would still call to be sure).

Just started using a kicks .665 in my Benelli Nova. Not sure if the Ultima uses the same choke system, but I'm very happy with the patterns from a Kicks.

Im running a Sumtoy .562. the A300 I have so far seems to like .568 and under constriction more than the .570 and up constrictions. That is with TSS 8, 9 and 9.5's. id say a .560 to a .565 should do you well.

I just searched everywhere on the internet.  Ther is not an Indian Creek mobil 20g choke to be found.

Patternmaster Code Black would be choice #2 for me.

Carlson's .575, and you are done..shoots great in all my 20ga's with TSS #9. Remington, Beretta, Benelli, and Franchi. Yes, I have a problem!

Found a place with Jebs in stock in 560 and 565. I saw the Patternmaster can be bought yet, too. I contacted Indian Creek and they have a 4-5 week turnaround for a 562 Mobil.

Get you a turkey choke in the 575 to 585 range and you'll be good.  Don't fuss over brand. Constriction is what matters.

Just remember that little stainless steel tube won't care who's name is stamped on it and the turkeys won't care either.
