Just curious if anyone in North Mississippi is having the same silence I'm getting. I'm on last day of a draw hunt. Yesterday was crap weather due to wind. Today's pretty dang good weather. I haven't heard or seen the first turkey. I haven't even seen a turkey track. I'm moving an hour south this evening for 3 days to hunt some private land hopefully they're doing turkey stuff down there.
You are prob the 2-300th hunter to try em by now. They are prob feeling the heat

I'm sure that's defiantley part of it. They don't give out to many tags for this hunt so it just surprised me to see this place so dead. I didn't have crazy expectations which is why I found some private for after this hunt ended. And I think it's crazy I haven't even cut a track. I got whooped in florida last year on a wma but I atleast called in hens and found fresh gobbler tracks and scat.
Saturday in south MS, they were gobbling their heads off. Quiet on Sunday, super windy.
Not silence, but not far from it. Saturday morning provided decent gobbling. Sunday I heard zero roost gobbles, only 3 shock gobbles all morning and I hit two areas with plenty of sign. This morning, a few roost gobbles and 1 shock ground gobble. Definitely slower than last season.
Central Ms on Sunday morning didn't hear a gobble.
Called in a couple groups of hens

Hopefully this private land an hour south will be good to me.
Good luck Zach!
I have a lease close to Meridian/Alabama line and it's been like a ghost town for gobbling. I can go an hour south to NF or my other lease and actually hear birds. The lease close to the bama line is surrounded by a ton of other leases and even being on a high point it's been dead quiet for miles it seems. The sign is there just not hearing much if any gobbling.
Just now picking up for us in central MS. Definitely a later spring than I thought.
I have been doing some scouting and listening here in NC as we anticipate our opener on the 12th and it has been tough going. We have the birds on our lease but aren't seeing or hearing them as in years past. The last couple of years, I have heard gobbling the first 15 to 30 minutes and then silence. Hope this doesn't continue but if it does PERSEVERANCE will be key. Tough hunting is still Hunting, so enjoy the Bad, the Good will Follow! I can't put my finger on why this happens but one day they Gobble their Fool heads off for hours and the very next day not a Peep. Turkeys, we can't figure them out. We just talk about THAT strange behavior, don't we? Good Luck to ALL!
The pressure is beyond measure this year. I've never seen so many people in all my years of chasing them. It's almost like a sports event when one gives up, they tag someone else to go in, and this goes on all day long.
But yeah. Been quiet as a mouse. Lots and lots of miles and even seen a few but they ain't doing much. And nothing on the limb. Which really sucks to get a heading.

Three buddies killed this morning in central Ms. I just had a regular Ms public land hunt, two gobbling good but a long way off, time I get close and make my first call, someone shoots him! only truck I saw was a mile off, I guess we both did a lot of walking!
Jakes keep shutting mine up...the last two mornings they have chased them off before the longbeards get into range. I'm about ready to grab a youth...

one thing folks misconscrew about draw hunts ... the property being setup for draw doesn't mean it's special or a gold mine.... It just means the property needs limited/regulated access to keep turkeys from being extinct ...... that's it. Doesn't mean it's not good , but also doesn't mean it's special.
Was silent this morning, until my gun went off.
