Title: Raven Call
Post by: Zobo on March 05, 2025, 07:42:57 PM
I'm wondering if anyone has heard of or seen a dedicated raven call. They make a croaking sound in my area and don't generally kaw like a normal crow.

Do you want to call them or use for locating? Imo I'd think a crow being its sharper sounding would work better than the sorta croaking sound ravens seem to make. They don't really pierce the air sound wise

Yeah that's true. I was really just looking for a new crow call and the thought crossed my mind.

They had a dude on the turkey hunter podcast imitating a raven with his voice. Dang realistic. I hear ravens just as much as crows in the Northland and do hear turkeys gobble to them. As far as needing a piercing sound to make a shock gobble refer to the owl hoot. Is that a piercing sound. I also hear turkeys gobble to crows caws that are barely audible to me.

I heard it or read once that many noises that make a turkey gobble are in the same sound frequency range as a gobble.

Try an easier type owl sound as opposed to a more pronounced one like the hooting stick has. I assure you they'll gobble at both but much more frequently at the sharper sounding call

I use my voice for owl and have noticed they seem to respond to higher pitched more so than a deeper hoot but still nowhere near piercing.
