Post by: Trl91 on March 04, 2025, 10:23:31 PM
Hi all, itching for the season to get started and going over gear. Let's see some pictures of your satchel's and what you have in them / how its organized to suit your needs. TIA!

Have to agree with you, I ditched the vest last year and never looked back.  Make fun all ya want but its nice to just ditch and go if I need to move on a bird.

I've run a satchel for a few years, no, not Mrs. Glenda's, I'm too cheap.  I have -- not ranked in any order -- two Lynch boxes -  80's vintage calls, a scratch box, a unique slate call-Dan Harris purrr-fect hen, a VO Johnson quill call, a homemade wingbone - by your's truly, -- clippers for brush/briars, blue chalk, extra rubber bands, small green scratch pad - strikers (several - one an old, old, corn husk), small thing of deet, gloves, face mask, extra derwent XL charcoal, payday candy bar - pro ears stealth 28 htbt (ear's aren't what they once were) -- That's about enough in that thing, isn't it?  I do have stuff in  my pockets, too.

I have the minimalist satchel. I tote two pot calls, 3 or 4 strikers, 2 trumpets, various mouth calls, an owl hooter, a crow call, extra battery for a red dot, screwdriver for red dot battery change, lens cloth for cleaning red dot, dude wipes, facemask, gloves, flashlight, shells, a little tape measure, a snack bag, and a big yeti water bottle.

I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple things, but the pockets make fitting everything a breeze. I can't imagine needing more stuff than what I can fit in the minimalist satchel

Mrs. Glenda is just top notch and her work is even better. When it gets warm I take the satchel. Wingbone/Trumpet is usually around my neck. In the satchel - I will have a purr pot and at times maybe a pot call (big maybe). Other than that - a tiny little range finder (I range to forty in the timber every sit just to be sure), a crow call, maybe an extra shell or two (coyotes are bad where I hunt) and turkey tote and food and water. The good thing about food and water, it is pretty much gone on the way out so the satchel weighs next to nothing later when coming out.

I will say, I have an old vest that goes with me too, this allows for a folding swivel chair or a closed cell foam pad.  The vest is an old late 80's early 90's mossy oak vest.  That thing just has to go with me, why?  It just is part of the ensemble.
