Title: Wet Wadding for Smallmouth
Post by: WV Gobble Gobble on July 27, 2011, 01:38:25 PM
Hi All

Just wanted to share a picture of the best smallie of the trip.  Me and a buddie fished the Potomac River at Harper's Ferry, WV from about 6 am. to noon on Sunday 7/24.  We absolutely tore them up.  Way too many smallmouth and bluegill to count, about a half dozen rock bass, and one catfish.  Really had a lot of fun!!!

Love wading for Smallies! Harpers Ferry is only 30-40 minutes from where I live...but most of my wading is done on the North and South Forks of the Shenandoah.
Great Smallmouth! :happy0064:

Thats a good time right there, we wade the creeks here and catch smallmouths. Its a great way to beat the heat too!

That's something I haven't done in WAY too many years.  Nice fish, and the picture brings back great memories!  Looks like you guys are blessed with some nice waters.  Our local creeks and smaller rivers are pretty much just pools of water scattered among the rocks right now.

@ Lightsout you for sure have to get out when the waters rise.  We have been so hot up here that we are looking for ways to stay cool.

@ struttin_1 you will have to come on up and fish with us we have a great time out there.

Thanks everybody for looking hope you all get a chance to get out and get a tug on the line.

Most anywhere we can get to it. We did some scouting last year and found over 20 different spots on the North and South Forks where we could access from public roads. I have one private property spot too. Haven't done much on the main stem for a long time...mostly floating water there.
If your down my way any let me know and we can hit the river sometime!

My buddy & his son from Alabama came to my house here in Va. last sat. We fished Sun, Mon , Tues, & Thurs. on the Maury river in Rockbridge Co. Va. Wading in shorts & tennis shoes we caught over 300 Smallmouth , Rock Bass, & Bluegill. What a blast we had.
